The South Korean company Bumchun has reaffirmed its commitment to Hungary. The metalworking and battery component manufacturing company is expanding its plant, built in 2019, with a new investment worth EUR 56.3 million. As part of the Salgótarján expansion, Bumchun will add four new production lines to its existing manufacturing capacity, creating 400 new jobs.
The South Korean Bumchun Group has a history of over four decades and is globally recognized for manufacturing headphones, precision audio system components, and battery parts for electric vehicles. In 2019, the company established its first plant outside of South Korea in Salgótarján, where it produces aluminum jacks for electric vehicle batteries.
The economic relationship between Hungary and South Korea has seen significant growth in recent years, with South Korea now being the third-largest investor in Hungary in terms of foreign direct investment. By reinforcing this trend, Bumchun’s reinvestment decision in Salgótarján also responds to the increased market demand. The EUR 56.3 million investment will add four new production lines and a new hall to the existing two production lines.
Specializing in the production of aluminum battery jacks for electric vehicles, Bumchun’s expansion will bring an additional 400 jobs to the region.
